Meet Our Charity Team

mandy-jordanMandy Jordan – Head of Charity & Fundraising

Mandy was working as a Legal Executive, before escaping to the charity sector following family experience of cancer.   Starting at Macmillan Cancer Support, she cut her teeth in local fundraising and then as Area Manager for Norfolk & Suffolk headed up a Capital Appeal for the new Woolverstone Macmillan Centre at Ipswich Hospital. Following 5 years at Macmillan, Mandy became Head of Charity & Fundraising at The Ipswich Hospital Charity in September 2016.

Leading from the front, Mandy has completed a number of challenge events including cycling from London to Paris and will be taking part in many events for the Ipswich Hospital Charity in 2017 including the skydive about which she admits to being terrified! In her spare time she enjoys cooking, wine, travelling and being with her family.

In her role as Head of Charity & Fundraising, Mandy leads on charity and fundraising strategy, oversees the fundraising and fund expenditure of the Charity and liaises with the Charitable Funds & Sponsorship Committee. Please contact Mandy with enquiries about fundraising policy and strategy, fundraising legislation and best practice, marketing (including sponsorship and advertising), corporate partnerships, charity communications, appeals and large scale fundraising, major donors, legacy enquiries and general fundraising advice and guidance or to discuss bids for charitable funds.

jess-head-shoulders-picJessica Watkins – Events & Community Fundraising Officer

Jess has been working for the charity since 2014. After graduating from Loughborough University with a degree in Management Sciences and a brief stint in consumer goods she decided the private sector wasn’t for her and decided to take her first career steps in the charity sector.

Jess says one of the best parts of her job is being able to be a part of so many people’s touching fundraising stories, she loves meeting people and hearing why they are doing amazing things for The Ipswich Hospital Charity. This year she plans to take on some of the events herself and is looking forward to the views at the abseil – she’s much more nervous about the actual abseiling!

In her spare time Jess enjoys baking, which can be handy with lots of charity bake sales, expanding her gin collection and spending time with her loving cats.

Jess leads on The Ipswich Hospital Charity events programme and is the key contact for enquiries from and engagement with local community groups & associations

To contact Jess please telephone 01473 702227 (x1227) or email her on

Karina Youngs – Donor Engagement Officer

karinaKarina joins the team and returns to the world of fundraising after a 3 year break working at a local shipping company and her son’s primary school but decided that the charity sector was the career path for her.

Previously working for The East Anglian Air Ambulance she brings with her experience of fundraising for a local charity in the health sector, working with individual donors and volunteers. Karina says she loves being able to meet supporters to not only help them with fundraising tools but to learn about the ways and reasons in which they chose to fundraise for The Ipswich Hospital Charity.

Karina enjoys spending time with her family at the weekends whether that’s in the garden, at the cinema or a trip to the seaside. (well when she isn’t watching an episode of Friends!)

Karina’s role within our team is to be the key first point of contact for donor and supporter general enquiries to the charity
