Leave A Gift In Your Will

willWe understand that loved ones and family come first in financial plans, and once you have provided for your loved ones, we hope you will consider leaving a gift to The Ipswich Hospital Charity.  Each and every gift we receive is greatly appreciated.

A valid, and up-to-date Will is vital to ensure that your wishes are honoured. Telling those close to you what you would like to happen with your estate is not enough. We would always advise that you take independent advice from a solicitor when writing your will and recommend that you review your Will regularly to ensure that it is relevant especially if your family circumstances or wishes change. There is further advice on the Law Society website on what to consider when making your will.

Leaving a gift in your will is a wonderful way to support people in your local community; it is also extremely tax efficient, as leaving a will to a registered charity is currently exempt from Inheritance Tax and Income Tax. You do not need to leave a fortune or choose between The Ipswich Hospital Charity and your family.

These very special gifts help The Ipswich Hospital Charity carry on its work. Anything you leave will make a real difference to how we can support patients in the future

The types of gifts you may choose are:

  1. a specific gift for charitable purposes
“I give the sum of _____ pounds(£) to The Ipswich Hospital Charity currently of Heath Rd, Ipswich, IP4 5PD (Registered Charity Number 1048827). The written receipt of the Director of Finance or other proper officer for The Ipswich Hospital Charity shall be a complete discharge for my Executors and Trustees.”
  2. Gift of residuary estate for charitable purposes
“I give my residuary estate to The Ipswich Hospital Charity currently of Heath Rd, Ipswich (Registered Charity Number 1048827), free of all duties and charges to be used at the discretion of The Ipswich Hospital Charity for charitable purposes. I direct that the receipt of the Director of Finance or other proper officer for The Ipswich Hospital Charity shall be a complete discharge for my Executors and Trustees.”
  3. Giving to a particular specialism
If you would like to give to a particular specialism – such as Cardiology, Maternity or dementia care – or create a named fund or perpetual gift, please contact Mandy Jordan, Head of Charity & Fundraising on 01473 702930 to discuss the options that best suit your individual preference and situation.

If you have already made a Will, but would like to leave a gift to The Ipswich Hospital Charity, you can do so by making a simple addition to your existing Will. This is called a codicil.
